Eagles, BEC, Slapshot & Eagles Chicks All Voted Colorado Sports All-Stars
LOVELAND, Colo. - Throughout the months of May & June, Colorado sports fans voted in Mile High Sports' "All-Stars 2011" poll encompassing the best-of-the-best in several local sports categories, from players & coaches, to mascots & cheerleaders, to venues and ticket values. *Note* - Also in the July edition of Mile High Sports Magazine, check out what netminder Kyle Jones had to say about defending a penalty shot (on pg. 72) and Jimmy Cautosin's highlight about the Eagles' continued & consistent success (on pg. 18).
The results are in (they can be found in the recently-published July edition of Mile High Sports Magazine), and for the second straight year, the Eagles were voted the best ticket value and the Budweiser Events Center was voted the best pro sports venue.
The Eagles were also voted the fans' third-favorite pro sports team, trailing only the Broncos and the Rockies, and beating out the Avalanche, Nuggets, Rapids, Mammoth & Outlaws. Also gaining recognition was Slapshot, who came in second as the best pro sports mascot (behind only the Nuggets' Rocky) and the Pioneer Press Colorado Eagles Chicks, who were voted the third-best cheerleaders.
For bang-for-your-buck, a ticket to an Eagles game was voted a better value than one to DU hockey, a "Rockpile" ticket at a Rockies game, Air Force football, a Rapids "Terrace" seat or an Outlaws "Corral" seat. Mile High Sports Magazine summarized the results this way: "For less than $20, those who are fortunate enough to get tickets are able to watch a championship-caliber team in one of the state's best sports venues."
Speaking of the Budweiser Events Center, it beat out the likes of Coors Field, Pepsi Center, Invesco Field at Mile High and Dick's Sporting Goods Park as "best pro sports venue" thanks in large part to the atmosphere created by a fan base that's helped sell out a minor pro hockey record 311 games in a row. The magazine had this to say about the winning venue: "A packed house for every game, plus a perennial championship contender on the ice, make the home of the Colorado Eagles the most-attractive destination."
We'd like to thank all of our fans who voted!
