2nd Annual Borsheim Golf Tournament Set for Sept. 4

WINDSOR, Colo. - It has been just over one year since former Colorado Eagles player Les Borsheim was involved in a motorcycle accident that left him paralyzed. The outpouring of support from the entire hockey community was incredible and helped to make -- among other things -- last September's charity golf tournament a big success.
The first annual Les Borsheim Celebrity Golf Tournament (held at Water Valley's Pelican Lakes Golf & Country Club) helped raise $30,000 for the Les Borsheim Recovery Fund as foursomes were paired with celebrities from the worlds of sports & entertainment before enjoying a catered meal and partaking in a silent auction featuring elite items generously donated from NHL, NFL and CHL stars and organizations (among others). Over the past year, Borsheim has regained limited movement in his extremities, but his road to recovery is far from finished. He credits the support he's received from the Northern Colorado community as a major driving force behind his already strong will and the progress he's made to this point. "I will never be able to fully express how much the support has meant to me and how much strength and motivation it has instilled in me," said Borsheim. "I just want to say, 'Thank You.'" The second annual Les Borsheim Celebrity Golf Tournament has been set for September 4, 2009 (again at Water Valley's Pelican Lakes Golf & Country Club), and this year's promises to be bigger and better than the original. Several of the celebrities that participated last year have already committed to playing again, and some new celebrities have made plans to attend this year. The tournament will again be a scramble format, but will have a 1 p.m. shotgun start followed by a meal at Austin's Homestead adjacent to the course's clubhouse. If you're interested in participating -- either as a player or a sponsor -- please visit the Colorado Eagles Web site at www.ColoradoEagles.com or call Benson Verbel (970) 686-7468 for more information.
