Abbotsford Outlasts Eagles in 3-2 OT Win in Game Three

LOVELAND, CO. – Abbotsford forward Linus Karlsson netted the game-winning goal with just 1:13 remaining in overtime to give the Canucks a 3-2 victory over the Colorado Eagles on Wednesday. The win now gives Abbotsford a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five Pacific Division Finals series. Defenseman John Ludvig and forward Jake Wise both found the back of the net in the losing effort. Arturs Silovs earned the win in net for the Canucks, stopping 35 of the 37 shots he faced. Eagles goalie Trent Miner was dealt the loss, allowing three goals on 33 shots.
Colorado would jump on the scoreboard first, as Ludvig belted a shot from the left-wing boards past goalie Arturs Silovs. The goal was Ludvig’s second of the postseason and put the Eagles up 1-0 just 4:22 into the contest.
A scramble in the slot would set up Abbotsford defenseman Victor Mancini to sweep home a backhander, evening the score at 1-1 at the 10:27 mark of the first period.
Still deadlocked at 1-1 as the puck dropped on the second period, Colorado would hop back in the lead when Wise fired a wrister from between the circles that would put Colorado up 2-1 with only 1:00 left in the middle frame. The Eagles would go on to outshoot the Canucks 7-6 in the period and carried their 2-1 advantage into the second intermission.
Abbotsford would tie things up for a second time when forward Max Sasson buried a wrister from the right-wing circle, knotting the score at 2-2 at the 10:45 mark of the third period.
With 60 minutes not able to determine a winner, the game would shift to sudden-death overtime. As time wound down in the extra session, Karlsson would track down a rebound in the low slot before feeding into the net, cementing the 3-2 win.
Colorado finished the night going 0-for-3 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
