Eagles Head West to San Diego

Eagles Head West to San Diego

Jan 26, 2022

The Colorado Eagles will face off against the San Diego Gulls tonight at 8:00 pm MST for the first game in a six-game road trip.

Colorado and San Diego have met only one time so far in the 2021-22 season, back on November 6, 2021. That game saw the Eagles jump out to an early lead with three unanswered goals from Dennis Gilbert, Dylan Sikura and Alex Newhook.

The Gulls started to put together a comeback late in the second period when Jacob Perreault scored a power-play goal with just 33 seconds left in the frame. Nikolas Brouillard notched an even-strength tally early in the third period, but the Gulls couldn’t muster a third to force overtime.

Justus Annunen had the start in net and made 21 saves on 23 shots in just his second game of the season. Annunen has now led the Eagles to a seven-game winning streak, which they hope to continue on the road.
