Feb 26, 2022

The Colorado Eagles travel to Milwaukee to take on the Admirals in back-to-back weekend games this Saturday and Sunday.

This will be the second meeting of the two teams this season. The first set of games both ending in shoot-out fashion, both times seeing Colorado come out on top.

In the first bout between the two teams on January 14, the Admirals came out strong. Milwaukee forward Matt Donovan scored just 1:10 into the first period. Colorado would answer with a power-play tally from Alex Beaucage, but the Admirals would add two more goals before the first period was over. They would jump out to a 4-1 lead, scoring just over a minute into the second frame as well.

Cal Burke and Kiefer Sherwood would answer in the second period and Dylan Sikura added a fourth at the beginning of the third period. This left things tied 4-4 for the remainder of the third period and all of the five-minute overtime period.

Milwaukee would manage one goal in the shoot-out, coming from Cole Schneider. The Eagles came out on top with two shootout goals, coming from Jordan Gross and Jayson Megna.

The second night was a bit more even. Sampo Ranta started the scoring 11:10 into the first period, giving the Eagles the lead. Rocco Grimaldi would answer back on the power play, leaving things tied at 1 going into the first intermission. Colorado would come out strong again in the second period, with goals from Shane Bowers and Megna, extending their lead to 3-1. Grant Mismash and Schneider would each add a tally before regulation time expired, leaving things tied again.

For the second night in a row, no goals were scored in the overtime period and things would move to a shoot-out. For the second night in a row, the Admirals would manage only one goal in the shoot-out, this time coming from David Farrance. For the second night in a row, Gross and Megna would score shoot-out goals, making them the heroes and winning the game for Colorado.

Justus Annunen secured both wins for Colorado, with outstanding performances in regulation and in the shootouts. He made 66 saves on 73 shots between the two nights and stopped all but two shoot-out chances.
