Megna’s Return Boosts Colorado to 4-1 Win over Condors
Oct 24, 2026
LOVELAND, CO. – Colorado captain Jayson Megna’s season debit saw him net a pair of goals, including the game-winner, as the Eagles defeated the Bakersfield Condors 4-1 on Friday. Goaltender Ilya Nabokov improved to 4-1-0, making 34 saves on 35 shots. Colorado finished the night going 2-for-7 on the power play and 2-for-3 on the penalty kill.
An early power play would allow the Eagles to jump on top, as Megna flew down the right-wing boards before cutting to the low slot and tucking the puck past goalie Connor Ungar. The goal was Megna’s first of the season and gave Colorado a 1-0 edge just 4:33 into the contest.
Bakersfield would earn a power play of its own late in the period, but Megna would turn the tables on the opportunity. A shorthanded 2-on-1 rush would be capped off when forward Gavin Brindley dished a pass, which Megna would sweep home, putting the Eagles up 2-0 at the 17:27 mark of the opening frame.
Colorado would strike again when forward Reilly Connors stationed himself on top of the crease, before deflecting a shot into the back of the net, expanding the Eagles lead to 3-0 just 5:32 into the second period. The tally would also lead to Ungar giving way to goalie Nathan Day for the duration.
The Condors would finally break through on a power play, and with Day pulled for the extra attacker, as forward Atu Raty lit the lamp with a shot from the low slot, slicing the deficit to 3-1 at the 12:00 mark of the third period.
As time ticked down, and with Colorado on a power play, Bakersfield would once again pull Day to bring out the extra skater. However, it would be Eagles forward Gavin Brindley who would capitalize with an empty-netter to round out the 4-1 score with 36 left to play.
Ungar suffered the loss in net, allowing three goals on 11 shots, while Day turned aside all 10 shots he faced.
The Eagles will be back in action when they take on the Bakersfield Condors on Saturday, October 24th at 6:05pm MT at Blue Arena. Tickets for all Colorado Eagles home games are on sale now and can be purchased at ColoradoEagles.com.
